Irish Summer Courses are provided by Gaelcholáiste Cholumba in U.C.D. for  two week periods throughout the summer. Classes are arranged according to age and level. Students are grouped (12-15) and (15-17).  We also have a separate class for primary school students (8/9-12) who may avail of these two week courses.

We place significant emphasis on speaking the language in everyday situations such as: having a conversation about sports matches, talking about their favourite holidays, their favourite foods, clothes and shopping, ordering a cup of coffee and so on.  Students also learn to develop “an ear ” for the language.  Students practice their Aural Skills daily on this course.  We also place significant emphasis on proper sentence structure.  Students learn to write essays with confidence on the completion of this course.  Grammar is taught daily and enhances their Oral, Aural, and Written Competencies.

The Irish course includes afternoon and evening activities “as Gaeilge” which provides students with the opportunities on a daily basis to practice their spoken language through social, sporting and cultural activities.
